  • Position Overview


    We are looking for an Application Consultant to assist NorthStar in exceeding expectations in the delivery of NorthStar Enterprise Utility Customer Information and Billing solutions. The Applciation Consultant will provide expertise and leadership in the implementation of our Utility Billing Software at our client’s site by designing and implementing a solution that improves how our customers complete their business in our software. This is a direct client-facing role.

    Primary Functions

    Reporting to the Manager of Solutions, The Application Consultant will be required to:

    • Assume Business System Analysis responsibility and solution ownership for projects and initiatives related to Customer Information Systems (CIS) applications, (Utility Billing) and add-on applications.
    • Assess the client’s business and application requirements.
    • Conduct fit/gap analysis and business / process modeling and re-modeling as required to take full advantage of the software’s capabilities.
    • Map the requirements of the client to the software’s industry best practice processes in order to improve customer efficiencies through the use of the NorthStar Solution. 
    • Provide the Project Manager with regular updates on progress, issues and ideas for resolution, and successes.
    • Build and maintain highly effective relationships and become a trusted advisor with clients (business and process owners throughout the organization), partners, vendors, and internal team members.
    • Provide delivery leadership and guidance to client and peers.
    • Ensure timelines, targets and deliverables are properly monitored and attained.
    • Develop and maintain project documentation, standard operating procedures, and other documentation as required during and after executing on implementation tasks.
    • Prepare test scripts for testing the configured scenarios, as required.
    • Provide end user manual and user training.
    • Participate in post-implementation-review, measuring projects against actual deliverables with a view to continuous improvement.
    • Promote the NorthStar brand by contributing to development of delivery methodology, knowledge base, proposals, statements of work, and participating in User Groups, Conferences, and Presentations as required.


    • Knowledge of a utility Customer Information System (CIS) processes and functionality
    • Experience in system configuration would be considered an asset
    • Problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Strong influencing, coaching and communication (both written and verbal) skills across all levels of an organization, plus a passion for seeing others succeed
    • Entrepreneurial Spirit, with willingness to ‘roll up sleeves’ and work at all levels of client organization
    • Experience working with both business and IT groups
    • Knowledge of SQL is helpful
    • Must be able to successfully manage and complete multiple tasks within deadlines
    • Self-motivated, passionate, empathetic, approachable
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Business Technology Management, or Management Information Systems preferred
    • Must be able to travel up 75% of the time within North America
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in providing software implementation to the utility sector
