Harris Corporate is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to work closely with the Business Unit Controller in providing financial support and analysis for the division. The successful applicant will be working in one of our Vertical groups along with a team of highly motivated individuals who are engaged in continuous improvement. This position is based in our Ottawa, Ontario Canada headquarters.

Primary Functions

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you are instrumental to the success of Harris and the finance team. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Understanding the divisional operations and how they drive the financial results;
  • Managing the month-end and quarter-end close processes, by analyzing results, preparing journal entries and detailed reconciliations for various accounts as well as reporting for senior management;
  • Preparing and reviewing invoicing requests as well as actively following up with the business unit on any unbilled milestones on active projects;
  • Using reporting software to forecast benefits, payroll taxes and depreciation as well as updating actual results for headcount, bookings and backlog;
  • Ensuring that established control procedures are in place and identifying control risks;
  • Working with finance team (Ottawa) and business units (Canada/US) to meet reporting deadlines;
  • Tracking & analyzing deferred maintenance, hardware, software and professional services revenue streams;
  • Assisting in the management of divisional work-in-process schedules and working capital including oversight of the collections process;
  • Providing support to the divisional Controller, EVP and VP’s as needed;
  • Identifying, improving, and standardizing processes within Finance where possible; and
  • Special projects & ad hoc reporting as required.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

 

Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or business
  • Enrollment or plan to enroll in a professional accounting designation program
  • Experience with Great Plains
  • Project accounting
  • 5+ years of work experience in an accounting or finance environment
