Position Overview



The primary function of the Project Manager is to assist the Company in meeting the expectations of new and existing customers from planning to implementation and closure of software products. This position will act as the first point of contact for customers concerning their individual projects. A major portion of time will be dedicated to monitoring and control of scope, schedule and cost through coordination with various internal departments, customers and 3rd parties. 


The position is located at our Cayenta Division – Burnaby, BC and requires at least 50% travel to client sites throughout North America (Canada & United States).

Primary Functions

  • Responsible for all aspects of the project delivery, including managing the scope of the project and changes to the project deliverables, while ensuring customer satisfaction and Harris profitability.
  • Must have regular and effective communication with the customer to ensure progress is being made and customer concerns are dealt with promptly.
  • Provide project team leadership to achieve, schedule, budget and scope compliance.
  • Adhere to the schedule of work for all phases of the project including start-up and post implementation follow-up. Refine the schedule as the project progresses.
  • Be knowledgeable on project deliverables and contractual documentation to ensure obligations and expectations are met.
  • Prioritize project needs based on tasks outstanding, obstacles or barriers, budgets, resources and deadlines.
  • Coordinate resolution of project issues and/or delays to reduce the impact on the project and ensure timely implementation.
  • Negotiate changes and / or trade-offs to project scope or delivery dates with client, based on evolving project needs.
  • Document and explain implications of changes to project scope and / or objectives to client and management to ensure changes are understood and approved.
  • Deliver projects in scope, on time and on budget.
  • Analyze and recommend implementation and PM process improvements.
  • Handle additional project requests as required.
  • Keep senior stakeholders and customer management apprised of critical issues, implications and progress.


  • 2 to 3+ years of direct management experience (preferably within a software environment).
  • Strong problem solving skills. Must be able to analyze information to make independent decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Detailed oriented and conscientious about meeting expectations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function at a high level within a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to carry out multiple tasks within a defined time frame.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, or Information Systems preferred.
  • 3 to 5+ years of Project Management experience (PMP certification preferred).
