Position Overview




The Business Systems Analyst will perform analysis and design responsibilities for developing healthcare applications in accordance with accepted Life Cycle Methodology.  Routine duties are performed under general supervision.

Primary Functions

  • Develop basic application specifications and flowcharts, including gathering client input
  • Perform routine workflow analysis studies
  • Adhere to defined methodologies for application design, development, support, and installation
  • Work in conjunction with programmers on application design and analysis in accordance     with the Life Cycle Methodology
  • Prepare specification documentation in compliance with the life cycle methodology, including functional design documents and reference manual content
  • Test applications to validate design prior to submission to QA
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Maintain project status documentation and project plan for all team members
  • Participate in beta application installs, as required
  • Provide post-implementation beta support as required
  • Provide demo support and assist in training as needed
  • Other duties as required by business conditions or as assigned



Education and Knowledge

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Business, or related area, or equivalent related work experience
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems and applications
  • Knowledge of accepted Life Cycle Methodologies


  • 2+ years analysis and design experience in health care and/or hospital information systems or equivalent education

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with staff, clients and vendors
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to travel as required by business conditions
  • Typing skills sufficient to meet production and quality standards using a computer keyboard
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to accept direction from, and support, multiple managers and clients
